Introduction

In today's information era, an organisation's website has become the main window to the world. For some organisations, the website is the only storefront for their products and services. Governments, likewise, have turned to their websites as a means to disseminate information and enhance their service delivery.

The first State Government websites were developed ten years ago. Since then, many more new sites have sprung up, with some interactive ones providing both information and services on-line. Such a shift is necessary as we transform ourselves towards e-government. It is in light of this that this competition is organised.

In line with the objectives of the State Public Sector IT Master Plan, Unit Kemajuan IT Negeri (KIT), is organizing the Sabah Government Website Competition 2008 to recognize and reward the departments and agencies for their innovative use of ICT and portal to enhance communication within agencies of the state government, the organization and agencies in private sectors, and members of the public.

Objectives

The main objectives of this competition are:

To encourage the development of attractive and interactive websites that will serve the needs of the people, businesses and the community at large
To promote the use of ICT as a potent tool in enhancing the daily operations of the organisation

Participants & Eligibility

The competition is open to all Sabah State Government Ministries, Departments, Statutory Bodies and Agencies.

From 2008 onwards there are TWO categories of winners; Best Sabah Government Website (In-house) and Best Sabah Government Website(Outsource)
