
SABAH PARKS Sabah Parks is a statutory body under the Sabah Parks Enactment 1982 which is run by a Board of Trustees to administer, protect and conserve the natural environment. Its operational and development budgets are provided via the MTED. It is also able to levy park charges for visitor use of accommodation and other park facilities.
There are at present six gazetted parks, covering approximately 266,194 hectares under its jurisdiction.

They are managed to provide recreational and scientific facilities which includes preserving Sabah's natural heritage for the present and future generation.
Sabah Parks' six primary functions, as stipulated in its enactment are :
· To provide and maintain adequate and efficient
services and facilities at all Parks.
· To promote the use, improvement and development of
the Parks.
· To take such steps as will ensure the security and
well being of the animal and vegetable in a
park and the preservation of such Park natural
features and the animal and vegetation therein in
their natural state.
· Reserve or set aside any portions of a Parks as breeding
places for animal and as nurseries
for vegetation.
· Provide such accommodation,
amenities, facilities and services as are likely to attract visitors
to the Parks and are not prejudicial to the
proper care, control and management thereof.
· To levy fees or to collect dues from persons utilising
the accommodations, amenities, facilities or
services provided under this Enactment.
