Program Tugu Budaya Etnik Sabah (literally means Sabah Cultural Monument Programme) is one of the programmes by the Sabah state government to spearhead the development and promotion culture and arts especially among younger generation.  This programme is implemented through Sabah Cultural Board in collaboration with Sabah Education Department.  The main objective of the programme is to create an awareness of the importance of culture and to promote folkdances of the various ethnics in Sabah to the younger generation.  Various activities are organised under this programme namely the choreographer workshop, seminar and the Local Folkdance Competition.  The competition is organised in various levels namely in the district level, zone level and the final stage, the state level, which is organised in conjunction with the Sabah International Folklore Festival annually.

TERMS AND CONDITION OF PARTICIPATION

    1. 1   The 1st  Tugu Budaya Sabah Youth International Folk Dance Festival 2017.

    1. 1   Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah, Malaysia.

    1. 1   Kota Kinabalu / Sabah Cultural Centre,Penampang.
  1. DATE
    1. 1   17th July to 24th July 2017.
  1. CATEGORY
    1. 1   Performances are under the category of Folk Dance.
    2. 2   Traditional Creative Category (5 min) and Pocket show performance (3 min)
  1. PARTICIPATION
    1. 1   The minimum age for participants ( Dancers and Musicians) is Junior Category 7-12 years old and Youth Category 13-19 years old.
    2. 2   Tugu Budaya World Youth International Folk Dance Festival is an international event and only with excellent track record and credentials will be  considered. (State or National Level Champion or / and have participated International Level Festivals before).
    3. 3   Group members including officials (Directors, Speakers, Choreographer, Artists, Musician) Minimum 20 Person and Maximum 25 person performer.
    4. 4   The maximum number of participating groups is limited. Therefore final confirmation of participation is on first come, first served basis.
    5. 5   Accompanying music for folk dance performance can be done by CD or live music performance.
    6. 6   A Liaison Officer will be assigned to each group to facilitate efficiency of participation and convenience of all participating groups in the festival.
    7. 7   Groups should be able and prepared to perform folk dance performances of 3, 5  minutes performance throughout the festival.
    8. 8   Technical crews will be provided by our organization.
  1. MAIN PERFORMANCE
    1. 1   During the main performance TUGU BUDAYA SABAH INTERNATIONAL FOLK DANCE COMPETITION, competition is not main objective. However acknowledgement for the best performers will be chosen from among all the participating groups and token of appreciation and recognition will be given to the winners.
    2. 2   Performances duration in the main performance is 5 minutes on the final night 20th July 23th July 2017. The organizer reserves the right to alter the timing and terms and conditions of performances.
    3. 3   Participants are not allowed to use hazardous / dangerous props such as fire etc during performance.
  1. TRAVEL EXPENSES
    1. 1   Groups travel expenses to Kota Kinabalu City Sabah, Malaysia from the group origin respective origin countries and return will be borne by the participating groups.
    2. 2   The organizer will take charge of the groups on arrival/departure at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport until 25th July 2017.
    3. 3   Participating groups may extend their stay in Kota Kinabalu on their own accord and expenses, and should inform organizer in 48 Hours to enable the organizer to arrange their transport to the airport for their departure.
  1. TRAVEL ARRANGEMENT AND VISA
    1. 1   Each participating groups are responsible for all travel expenses and arrangements including passport and Visa, Travel Insurance, Excess Baggage, Custom and immigration arrangement for all members should be the responsibility of the groups themselves.
    2. 2   Passport is must be valid for 6 months.
    3. 3   Participating groups must ensure that their flight are confirmed before leaving to Kota Kinabalu. The organizer, under no circumstances can be held responsible in the event of flight delay or any other flight related problems.
    4. 4   The organizer only responsible for all matters regarding your Professional Visa/Visa Ikhtisas.  This Visa issued to a foreigner who hold acceptable professional qualification or specialist skills and enter Malaysia to take up professional work for short term period not exceeding twelve (12) months. Applicant must be outside Malaysia at the time of application.
  1.    PARTICIPATION FEE
    1. 1   In order to decrease expenses of the organization committee, the participants required to pay the participation fee. Below are the following details:- Fees  15 USD per head + 2 Complimentary for Head of Delegates will be hosted free.
    2. 2   Participating groups should indicate their food preference in respect Halal, vegetarian food etc.
    3. 3   Lodging will be in apartments reasonably priced hotels or hostel from 17th July to 24th July 2017 only.
    4. 4   The organizer will only hosted free for 2 complimentary head of delegates.
    5. 5    Individuals who have no direct role either as groups Officials Dancers or Musician should not be registered as participants in the festival.
  1. INSURANCE
    1. 1   The organizer responsibility is limited only to bodily injuries which may occur on scene during the processions and shows from 17th July to 23th July 2017 only.
    2. 2   Each groups must have its own insurance coverage for equipment, costumes and etc. During the festival, participating groups must also have their own arrival and departure flights travel insurance.
  1. SOUVENIR
    1. 1   Each participants are also advised to prepare 3 souvenirs for gift exchange purposes.
  1. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
    1. 1   Each group is required to submit to the organizer these items listed below before 31th July 2017;
  • List of group members and details (Name,Gender,Age,Passport Number and Role)
  • Flight details (Arrival and Departure back)flight number, name of Airlines and date of arrival and departure back.
  • Group Profile a complete description of the groups history (Written in English)
  • Synopsis of Folk Dances to be performed (Written in English)
  • Performing group photos
  • Copy of passport and photo in passport size of all the group members for documentation arrangement.

 

  1. CLOSING DATE
    1. 1   Application or intention to participate in the festival, which can be done either by email or on-line application at our website or by email application. Forms must reach to the organizer before 31st May 2017.
    2. 2   Status of the application will be notified to all the applicants after 31st May 2017.
    3. 3   Participation of any particular selected group in the festival is considered FINAL after all the required information and flights details have been submitted to the organizer on or before 10th June 2017.
    4. 4   All successful applicants to participate in the festival will be notified in writing by the organizer in the form of official letter – “FINAL CONFIRMATION NOTIFICATION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TUGU BUDAYA WORLD YOUTH INTERNATIONAL FOLK DANCE FESTIVAL 2018”
  1. RIGHTS OF THE ORGANISER
    1. 1   The organizer reserves the rights to select any group to participate in the festival. 
    2. 2   The organizer reserves the rights to amend the terms and condition of participation of the festival without prior notice and any change will be communicated to all the participating groups accordingly.
