1. GENERAL

1.1     Any team that fails to observe the rules and regulations here in may be disqualified.

1.2     A team must follow the directions of the Race Officials from the time it is called to the Embarkation Area, until it leaves the Embarkation Area after its race.

1.3     Each team must have a Team Captain, who must be present in the Embarkation Area during the time that the crew is under the control of the Race Officials. The Team Captain will represent the team at the price presentation ceremony.

1.4     The entry fee paid is non-refundable should the team decide to withdraw from the races 0or should the races be cancelled fro reasons beyond the Organizer’s control.

1.5     The Organizer reserves the right to refuse the entry of a team in the race at its sole discretion.

 

 

2.SAFETY

2.1     Each competitor must be able to swim at least 100 meters wearing light clothing. It is responsibility of the person entering a team comply with this rule.

2.2     Each competitor is solely responsible for his or her own safety during official practice sessions and during the races and no responsibility will be accepted by the Organizer or any individual or any organization connected directly or indirectly with the race for any death, injury, damage or loss and whatsoever incurred or borne by competitors or member of a team.

 

 

3.ATTIRE

3.1     Each competitor/team shall be free to choose his or her own attire for the race; provided that it is not transparent materials.

 

4.NUMBER OF CATEGORIES ALLOWED

 

4.1     Each registered team is allowed to take part only in ONE category of the competition except for Mixed Team.

 

5.COMPOSITION OF TEAM.

5.1     The number of persons registered in each team shall be 25 consisting of:-

·         1 Team Manager

·         1 Steersperson

·         1 Coach /Trainer

·         18 Paddlers

·         Drummer

·         3 Reserves

 

6.TEAM MANAGERS MEETING

6.1     All registered Team Manager must attend the Team        Managers Meeting.

6.2     All manager shall be briefed on the rules and regulations at the meeting.

6.3     The heat/lane draws shall be conducted at this meeting.

6.4      The Organizer will draw for lane 3,4,5 & 6. The balance   teams will draw lane 1,2 & 7.

6.5      All teams including those who are not able to attend this meeting.

 

7. RACE REPORTING TIME

7.1      All teams manager must report to the Race Secretariat at least One Hour before each race.

7.2      All teams must be in the embarking enclosure at the Embarking Area fifteen (15) minutes before each race.

 

 8. RACE DISTANCE

8.1    600 meters for all category.

 

9.RACE EQUIPMENT

9.1    All boats and paddles used by competitors shall be provided by the Organizer. The allocation of boats and paddles to individual teams shall be the sole discretion of the Organizer. The organizer will not be responsible for any failure of equipment during a race and each team is advised to carefully check the boat and paddles allocated to them before racing.

 

9.2    No modifications or additions to the boat or the equipment may be made by any competitor or team. In particularly :-

a.       Any pad or device for the rower to sit on should be of flexible materials that should be able to be folded and should not be thicker than 2 inches.

 

 

b.      No equipment for removing  water from the boat is permitted except plastic hand held bailers with which the water is picked up and scooped out of the boat by a team member. No pumps of any kind are permitted.

c.       No electrical, electronic or radio ampliying equipment of any kind is permitted in the boat.

 

10.THE RACING TEAM.

 

10.1    Each boat shall have team comprising a maximum of eighteen (18) paddlers, one (1) drummer and one (1) steersperson. The captain must be one of the team member.

 

10.2    All registered teams are required to attend the official opening and closing ceremonies without exceptions.

 

 

10.3    No women may participate in a men’s team or vice versa, except as a steersman andlor drummer. A mixed team shall race with a minimum of eight (8) female paddlers up to a maximum of twelve (12).

 

10.4    Each team must comply with the race rules and befully responsible for its own conduct.

 

11.RACE PROCEDURE

11.1    All racing team members must be at the Embarking Area when called by Race Officials.

11.2    Any crew who turns up late shall be disqualified automatically.

11.3    The team is not permitted to choose which boat to use and must use the boat allocated to it by the Organizer.

11.4    All teams must place their boats behind the starting line and must position at their respectives assigned lanes.

11.5    Each race shall be started by a single shot with a starting pistol.

11.6    A second shot immediately following the first shot shall indicate a false start and tha race shall be started.

 

12.RACE MISCONDUCT/PENALTIES INDEMNITY FOR

12.1    Any boat, which fails to return to the starting line after a false start or causes two false starts shall be disqualified by the Race Officials.

12.2    Any boat, which does not keep within its own assigned lanw would be automatically disqualified.

12.3    If a collision affects the outcome of the race, the Race Officials have the right to restart the race without the participation of the disqualified team or teams.

12.4    The organizer may require the oraganisations/club, which enters a team to indemnify all the costs of repairs, replacement of racing equipment and boat wilfully damaged by any or the entire team members including all related incidental costs.

 

13.THE FINISHER

13.1    The winner if each race shall be terminated by the Finishing Judges. In case of a close finish, the finishing video will be reviewed to determine the winner.

13.2    The decision of the Finishing Judges shall be final.

 

14.PROTEST/APPEAL

14.1        Any protest must be lodged witgh the Appeal Committee within 15 minutes after the result announcement in the prescribed Form, which is available at the Race Secretariat.

14.2        Each protest must be accompanied by a protest fee of Rm300.00 (Ringgit Malaysia Three Hundred) in cash.

14.3        The protest Form must be sent and lodged by Team Manager.

14.4        Any protest lodged without complying rules 14.1, 14.2 and 14.3 above will not be entertained.

 

15.APPEAL COMMITTEE

15.1 Appeal committee should consist of:-

A chairman and two (2) other members to be appointed by the Technical Committee and their decision shall be final.

15.2    No protest will be allowed concerning equipmentg or any matter other than the conduct of the team in the race.

 

16.OTHERS

Participating in the race will be self-hosted basis. Crews taking part will be responsible for all expenses incurred by the trip including air passage and accommodation in Sabah.
