2003   A month-long programme was organised together with the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre (Wildlife Department). The main purpose for the programme was to upgrade and build new bus-stops along Jalan Sepilok.

Murals were painted by the children of Sepilok, with guidance from teachers and FRC staff. The bus-stops were upgraded by the adopting agencies. Two new bus-stop were constructed.

2002   A 3 day Seminar on Environmental Education for Practitioners (SEEP) was organised instead of a camp. Twenty-four participants attended the seminar. Experiences were shared by teachers, students, park managers and other dealing in EE. One important outcome from SEEP is the proposal to form a network of educators, to be called Sabah Environmental Education Network.

2001   A 4-day camp in Sepilok was held. Participants were introduced to the various forest types in Sabah. The issue for the role-playing game was the clearing of large areas of mangroves for the development of a satellite town in Sandakan.

2000    A 4-day camp in Bukit Gemok (Tawau) was held. Participants were introduced to the hill dipterocarp and the volcanic areas in the Semporna Peninsula. The issue for the role-playing game was the clearing of large areas of pristine rain forest to make way for a very large tree plantation.

1999    A 3-day camp in Sepilok was held. Participants were introduced to the lowland dipterocarp and kerangas forests of the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve. This was when we introduced the role-playing game where students play the roles of major stakeholders in an imaginary rainforest conservation issue. The issue was the clearing of large areas of pristine rainforest for an oil palm estate.

1998    A 2-day camp in the mangroves of Sepilok-Laut was held. About 60 students from Sandakan were introduced to the lowland dipterocarp and mangrove forests and also the dynamics of a forest gap at Sepilok-Laut.

1997    Still a small celebration. We planted a few trees and had a prize-giving ceremony for an t-shirt designing competition organised a few months earlier for primary and secondary schools in Sandakan. The winning design was printed and the t-shirts were distributed.

1996    The Unit was just teething when we celebrated WED in 1996. The EE Programme for students started officially with two schools invited for a day programme at the RIC. Our first Introduction to Environmental Education Course for Teachers was conducted on this day.

We also celebrate National Environment week (NEW)

1998    This was the first time we celebrated NEW. Some 130 kids, aged 4-12 year olds participate in the one day event. Most of them were children of the Forest Research Centre staff staying at Sepilok. The kids were divided into 3 age groups with 3 different sets of activities. The activities ranged from story telling for the younger ones to jungle trekking for the older kids.

2000    A one-day event similar to the one in 1998 was organised. About 130 kids participated. The activities included colouring competition, an environmental game to test children's knowledge on different animal habitats and jungle trekking.

2002  This year, National Environmental Week cannot be held at RIC as this building is in process of redevelopment. About 102 kids participants will be join interesting and enjoyable activities during the events. This memorable events will be held in the Forest Research Centre Hall. same as in the previous years, the participants who are eligible to join the programs are children from age 4-12 years old. For 4-9 years old children, the program that are available for them is the colouring contest and for each level of age will be given different set of drawing. This year, 10-12 years old children will take part in a different kind of activities than in the former years that is grouping Bicycle Rally.
