	ALL Maps and satellite images in this website cannot and should not be used to as authoritative references to verify forest reserve boundaries. They are for visualisation purposes only and were produced as such, for e.g. extremely accurate georectification of satellite images were not conducted. For verification of boundaries, please contact the Director, Sabah Forestry Department, for more information.
	Natural vegetation maps for forest reserves were extracted from a very general map for the whole of Sabah. They are very crude representations of natural vegetation as very few reserves are mapped out for the current vegetation.
	Current vegetation maps may differ from the natural vegetation maps of individual forest types. This is due to very detailed interpretation of remote sensed images and the higher level of forest descriptions (for e.g. see Kabili-Sepilok VJR).

Number of reports

This rating system is very subjective at the moment. When we have all our digital maps ready, the ratings will be more objective, i.e. based on percentages of disturbed areas, degree of disturbances, regenerative capabilities, etc.

Forest reserves are given a rating out of 5 fruits, 5 being the highest and 1 being the lowest. But there are cases where half a fruit is needed... So, here is what we mean now.

Almost all pristine forest.

Minimal disturbances.

Disturbed, regenerative capability good, minimal silvicultural treatments needed.

Badly disturbed, rehabilitation and silvicultural treatments needed in most areas.

Severely disturbed, reforestation and rehabilitation needed all over.

Almost all young secondary forest, belukar, grassland and/or planted with cash crops.
