Chief Minster Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman welcomed the support extended to Sabah's conservation effort by European Union countries. "We are indeed pleased on the support given by EU countries on our conservation initiatives and we are keen to collaborate on more conservation programmes in the future," he said during a courtesy call by eleven ambassadors and three chargee d' Affaires from EU countries at his official residence in Sri Gaya on Thursday. The call on the Chief Minister was led by EU Head of Delegation, His Excellency Vincent Piket.

Musa said the Sabah Government was committed to protect the environment through its conservation efforts namely through the Forestry Department and joint programmes with other countries was important in terms of research and development and sharing of findings. He also took the opportunity to brief the delegation the delegation on the state economic focus, poverty eradication programmes and overall development agenda.

Meanwhile, German Ambassador to Malaysia, His Excellency Dr. Guenter Georg Gruber said he was impressed with Sabah Government initiatives on conserving its forest including the decision to cease logging in various parts of Sabah. Sweden Ambassador, His Excellency Per Arne Hjelmborn commended the decision to scrap the proposal on the coal fired power plant.
