KK Christmas Celebration 2017

SPEECH BY Y.A.B TAN SRI DATUK SERI PANGLIMA MUSA HAJI AMAN CHIEF MINISTER OF SABAH, AT THE KK CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION 2017 ON DECEMBER 11, 2017, AT PADANG MERDEKA, KOTA KINABALU.

Every year without fail, the State Government has distributed allocations to churches for them to fund the identified projects and community programmes. This is done in a spirit of sincerity and we are glad to note these annual allocations have helped those who received funding to make a difference in their communities.

We wish to ensure that religious freedom can be celebrated and further enhanced.  Sabah proudly stands out today as a model state where we embrace our rich cultural diversity through community carnivals like this Christmas Celebration and others such as the Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Tadau Kaamatan carnivals. These are some of the solid benchmarks of nation building and meaningful progress as a peaceful and harmonious Malaysian society. I am pleased to see tonight the rich cultural mix of local and international visitors attending this Christmas celebration.

In conclusion, let me once again thank and congratulate Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu, the Sabah Council of Churches and the KK Christmas Celebration Organizing Committee for successfully organizing such a meaningful and high quality event for the local community. Tonight, you have raised the standards even higher for others to emulate.

On this note, I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2018.

Thank you.
