With his Camera he stalked and snapped his subjects in various poses and positions when they were completely unaware of his
presence and intention. Based on such snapshots this photographer artist sketched and painted his subjects in watercolor
turning them into a unique and fascinating portrayal of the individuals who had been caught momentarily in certain postures
and mood. He believes that his works portrayed the mood and the personality of his subject with his camera and paintbrushes,
that is Ag. Azmi Bin Ag. Bakar, a new comer in the local art scene. Encik Ag. Azmi Ag. Bakar was born in Tenom in 1976 and
grew up and works in Membakut until today. He was interested in art since he was still at school especially in drawing
cartoon and comic strips which brought him to enjoy figure and portrait paintings more than landscape works like most of the
other new painters in the state. Ag. Azmi is one of the many self-taught local artists but with a difference.
Although occasionally he could be seen hanging around with artists group in the capital he never joined them in painting
activities. He executed his works behind the scene and turned up only as a surprise with a large collection of works for
exhibition.
