Welcome to the Sabah Water Department (JANS) website and congratulations to the Sabah Water Department Website Editorial Committee in their success in producing this official website. I hope this will serve as a portal of knowledge that will contribute as an E-Knowledge platform through interactivity and sharing information. The website also allow public to assist the Department in achieving and elevating its efficiency, productivity and effectiveness in line with the 11MP agenda which is formulated with the people as the centrepiece and focusing on enhancing the efficiency and productivity of the public service.
The website being customer-friendly, will continuously strengthen and improve JANS’s governance towards harnessing public understanding and assurance as well as managing online public/customer service. As Sabah development rapidly progressing, JANS will continue to strive in providing adequate and safe water supply through the building of new facilities in order to increase water capacity, supply and restoration of water supply system, providing efficient customer service, sensitive to customer’ needs, being transparent as well as professional based on JANS’ vision "To become an efficient, systematic and world-class water utility organisation by the year 2020." The achievement of this vision is supported by the mission "Providing quality water services for the well-being of the people via development and operation of continuous and efficient delivery of water, as well as excellent customer service."
This year, JANS is preparing to launch the Strategic Plan, which is one of the management approach in achieving organisational excellence. It is implemented through the process of determining the direction of the department, filling in of vacant posts, strengthening human resource management and many others. In addition, this year JANS has also introduced a new approach in formulating and evaluating staff/department performance through "Goal Setting". The two main aspects highlighted in "Goal setting" are "Process Goal" and "Performance Goal" aimed to achieve 95% of its allocation. I call upon all staff to continuously think positively in their daily duties and introduce the principle of "1JANS" which symbolises good cooperation amongst all employees.
In restoring the good name and morale of the staff, I have implemented "Program Turun Padang" together with JANS Heads of Divisions to meet all staff at all JANS divisional and districts offices in resolving personnel related issues, water supply development management as well as maintenance of government assets. At the same time, in pursuant to reduce Non-Revenue Water (NRW), JANS is currently enforcing the Sabah Water Supply Enactment 2003 and Regulations 1961. JANS will not compromise violation of any rules and regulations and will not hesitate to take legal actions if found guilty.
We hope that through this website, the public can access and acquire latest information on JANS.
